life of the swiss people:
Switzerland is home to 8.5 million people, most of which reside in rented apartments. The reason for this is possibly the extremely high cost of living in the nation; it ranks among the highest in the world ("Housing"). Though, this issue is diluted by the steep salaries received by Swiss workers. Over 50% of these workers use public transportation to reach their workplace. Besides Japan, the Swiss utilize the railroads more than all other nations ("Transport").
The Swiss diet mainly includes foods that are high in calories and fat. Dairy, particularity cheese, acts as a very important piece of almost every Swiss dish. The most commonly consumed meat is pork ("Switzerland").
Switzerland has four official languages: French, German, Italian, and Romansh. The most popular language of the four is German ("Switzerland").
Overall Switzerland's quality of life is considered to be favorable. The country recognized as being "safe, efficient, and clean" (Enzler). The lack of natural resources causes the nation to be rooted in trade and to value education ("Switzerland").

beauty in switzerland:
Beauty in Switzerland resides in its variety. With vastly different regions and cities, the country contains incredible geography and unique architecture. Buildings in modern cities appear older but possess a cute and romantic mood (Nadeau).
Perhaps the image most associated with Switzerland is the snow-covered Alps. Drawing in tourists from around the world, the beauty of the Swiss mountains is undeniable. The Swiss mountains are the epitome of breathtaking nature ("Tourism"). A white blanket of snow engulfs the age old rocks and causes the mountains appear untouched by man in certain instances.

challenges facing the swiss:
The country of Switzerland is running into trouble with their immigration policies. Previously an extremely popular destination for immigrants, Switzerland passed legislation to restrict the "mass immigration". Before the restrictions were passed a poll was taken in Switzerland and the laws received a mere 50.3% approval. How to handle immigration issues is a debate across Europe ("Switzerland Passes").
Climate change presents a major threat to the economy of Switzerland. It's effects will endanger the Swiss people and detract from the country's tourism appeal ("Tourism"). Fortunately the officials and people of Switzerland are working to prioritize this issue within their borders. But the nation will be faced with the challenge, due to the lack of effort by other countries to combat climate change ("Climate").
Discrimination was deemed by the UN as "still a major problem" in Switzerland. The relatively large pay gap between men and women was criticized. The UN also discussed the existing discrimination by wealth. It was suggested that the government consider providing more aid to the poor. The Swiss government was called upon by the UN to work towards decreasing the "intolerance and xenophobia" that is taking place in the country ("Discrimination").
